PopsThis is the ONE…you know, the ONE you were looking for and weren’t sure you’d ever find. Well, he’s that ONE for me.

We’ve been married for almost 15 years and together for more than 16. We’ve raised two beautiful and amazing daughters and are now blessed whenever we get to play and enjoy our two fabulous Grandsons.

Pops is quite a bit older than me, twenty years to be exact. Sounds a bit crazy, I know, but he’s very young at heart. He taught 5th grade in elementary school for 36 years and, I believe spending so much time enjoying children, kept him young too.

Though he’s closer to my parent’s ages than mine, it’s never really been an issue. Well, there has been one issue…sometimes it’s a big issue – like when we’re on a long, long road trip together in the car. See, we have very, very different musical tastes.

I grew up during the Disco 70’s, New Wave 80’s and Alternative 90’s. Pops grew up during the Swingin’ 40’s, Rock n Roll 50’s and Pyschadelic/British Invasion 60’s. There’s obviously great music from every generation, but I can honestly tell you I canNOT stand when what they call Classic Rock is playing on the radio. I can’t stand it at ALL!!!! Especially when I’m trapped in the car with it. And I must admit, that’s the same way he feels about New Wave…which is just unbelievable to me. Who wouldn’t like a little Cure, OMD or Thompson Twins now and then?

In 16 years that’s been our biggest compromise and, honestly, I’d say we’re pretty luck for that.

Now, I’m off to load my 80s favorites on my iPod for the fun of it.
