Last week I was asked by Erin over at the Panache blog if I had tried any substitute for bleach. Here is the recipe I shared with her. (Oh and please check out her blog too…lots of useful information on trends and manners. She really gives you ideas to think about).

Back to this whitener…I have used it and it seems to work great! Please let me know if you’ve tried an alternative that you like also.

“Green” Bleach/Brightener Replacement

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup hydrogen peroxide
  • 1/4 cup lemon or grapefruit juice (I used lemon)
  • 12 cups water

I mixed all the ingredients right into my old Clorox jug.

For clothing add 2 cups per load along with detergent.

Stay Green!
