Marie Antoinette's Hamlet

I often find myself getting so very frustrated when the weekend winds to a close.

Why? you ask.

Because I never seem to get done all the things on my “to do” chore list.

And, oftentimes, those I do get done, are done in a quick and hurried way – less than perfect.

I have to remind myself, these things on my “to do” chore list are not the meaningful things of life. They are just chores that need to be done.

I’m far from perfect (and first to admit that), but I often struggle with a “trying to be perfect” syndrome.

Is it because I’m a first-born?

Isn’t perfection overrated anyways? It requires a whole lot of work including the added stress to try to achieve and maintain.

What is this guilt I feel when I’m just rushing to get something finished?

At least at this age, I can call myself on this guilt and then laugh at myself.

Today, as if it was meant to be, I saw this quote and it made me smile, so I thought I’d share hoping it will make you smile too.

“Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing flawlessly.” ~ Robert Schuller

Today was filled with a lot of rushed and imperfect chores getting done, but all those icky tasks are now done.

I’ll simply enjoy the happy feeling checking items off my “to-do” chore list brings, and make a list of fun things to do this coming week.

Happy Sunday,

  1. I have this feeling many times, specially at the end of weekends. May be its related to a habit of doing things with perfection as that forces us to feel that guilt.

Still trying to find a way to overcome that guilt of doing things in hurry and not sticking to the schedule.

    • Reducing guilt…always on my list, but yes, I work on it. There’s just never ever enough time to get everything done the way I want to…maybe I should be working more on acceptance :)
