Walt Disney Studios has done it again and created another fabulous family film with their realistic reimagining of the animated classic Pete’s Dragon. The creative production of this film had my imagination running wild and my emotions traveling right alongside. The skill and care the creators of this new movie use in evoking a full-range of emotions makes this film entertaining for both adults and children. While I may have heard some sniffles during the show (and they may or may not have been mine), the film flows right along never leaving you for too long with any fear or sadness. The happiness, laughter and ultimate joy of this movie brings your heart along for a fabulous ride.

Random Movie Details

The film was shot in New Zealand which means the scenery throughout the movie is absolutely gorgeous. It takes place in the made-up town of Millhaven (pretending to be in the Pacific Northwest) where an old wood-carver (played by Robert Redford) tells tales of a fierce dragon he has seen living deep in the woods.

Cast

Pete's Dragon cast

The amazing cast includes Bryce Dallas Howard (Grace), Oakes Fegley (Pete), Wes Bentley (Jack), Karl Urban (Gavin), Oona Laurence (Natalie) and Robert Redford (Meacham).

Elliot

Pete's Dragon Elliot

The Dragon, Elliot, is completely computer-generated. I love that instead of making him “too” realistic – meaning too scary – Elliot’s appearance is similar to that of a large stuffed animal.
