Baked Better Breads
I love when a company understands that while we all want to eat well (organic and healthy) sometimes it's nice to make creating foods at home a little simpler - especially for us working folk. The Baked Better organic bread mix company gets this.Which is why they've created these 3 organic bread mixes that you can make in your own home by simply adding water.
Yes, you can add only water...or...You can get a bit creative! In fact, they encourage getting creative with their mixes and have created them to work well with any number of added ingredients.Since I can never seem to follow any recipe directly and always seem to be substituting an ingredient here or adding an ingredient there, these mixes are a perfect match for me.For my first bread baking attempt, I used the Park Slope Staple mix.
So, what did I add?Well, I used 1 cup of soy milk instead of 1 cup of water and then I added sundried tomatoes and sliced olives (about 1 cup of them both total).
I mixed these ingredients together with the base mix and spread it into a 9-inch baking pan.
Can I tell you, it already smelled so good!!I love how the house smells when bread is baking YUM!The loaf baked up beautifully just as predicted.
To be honest, I almost didn't want to share any because this loaf smelled so good coming out of the oven. When the loaf cooled and I cut a slice, with a bit of Tofutti cream cheese added to it (I have a weakness for Tofutti), I couldn't believe how hearty and delicious it tasted after how easy it was to make.
What can I say, I'm a fan!The loaf was incredibly easy to make, made me feel like I was baking something healthy and organic for my family and tasted delicious. What more is there?Well, there is more...through the end of March the 2 friends who began Baked Better breads, Daniel and Nushin, are running a "Creative Loaf Contest" where the winner wins a Bakers Pack (all 3 mixes and a loaf pan)!Ready to try them??You can order their mixes online here. (If you live in Brooklyn, all 3 Union Market stores carry the mixes now too.)Join their Facebook page here, and their Twitter followers here.I'm excited now about getting creative with the other two mixes Dumbo Delicious and Cobble Hill Crave. I'll be posting on my Facebook page when I do.Hmmm...what goodies can I add to these??Let me know if you try these mixes.Happy Baking,
P.S. The lovely friends at the Baked Better organic bread mix company sent me all 3 mixes to try and blog about if I liked them...and I DID so I am sharing with you how really tasty they are.
