St. Patrick’s Day, Spring’s Arrival and Mountain Biking

It’s been a great week here on the home front!

We kicked things off with a fantastic St. Patrick’s Day celebration, hosted by our friend Joe Sweeney from Courtside. Every year, he throws an incredible party for 500 of his closest Los Gatos friends, and it’s always such a fun way to catch up with everyone. The food was amazing as always, but for me, the highlight was sampling some delicious signature mocktails. This year’s favorite? The Fighting Irish Mocktail—recipe below!

With spring officially here, we spent some time in the garden freshening up pots, checking on our plants, and admiring all the flower bulbs popping up around town during our morning walks. It’s always such a joy to see everything in bloom!

I also had my usual sourdough baking session. About every 7-10 days, I bake a fresh loaf and a batch of sourdough granola. This time, I made a sandwich loaf with a long fermenting time, which really brought out that deep sourdough flavor. While I have my go-to recipes, I love experimenting and tweaking them—always in pursuit of that perfect loaf!

Yesterday, we headed to Fort Ord for some mountain biking, one of our favorite spots. On the way down, we made our usual stop at Reservation Road to check out the waves (and, of course, take advantage of the bathroom break). A fun surprise was running into my former co-worker, Rueben, who happened to be out working in the field. It was great catching up, even if just for a quick chat!

This ride was extra special because it marked Jimi’s first mountain biking adventure since getting his pacemaker seven weeks ago. The weather was perfect, and the trails were in excellent condition thanks to the recent rains. All in all, a great way to round out the week!

Thanks for stopping by the blog! I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to—drop a comment and let’s chat. I’ll be back next week with more updates from our little corner of the world. See you then!
