Another “hit” for Turtle Island Foods, Inc. – you know those same people who make Tofurky (including the new Tofurky pizza I mentioned a few weeks ago)?
Here’s the latest product I’ve tried from them – Marinated Tempeh. I purchased 2 varieties at Whole Foods last week:
Yummy Sesame Garlic and Coconut Curry.
They’re very quick and easy to prepare. Just last night I made dinner with the Sesame Garlic strips. Here’s what I did:
1. Heated a tablespoon of safflower oil in a pan on medium high heat.
2. Added 1/2 a sliced onion and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
3. Added 4 sliced mushrooms and let them cook and brown.
5. Pushed the onion and mushroom to the sides of the pan and layed 5 slices of the tempe (only about 125 calories total) in the center of the pan – allowed them to brown on each side about 1.5-2 minutes.
I had already steamed some rice and tossed a little salad and put those on my plate. When I added the tempeh – VOILA
an incredibly tasty meal was born!
Super yummy, low in calories and perfect for this chilly evening at home.
Enjoy,
~ Lita
