Last week, we headed up to Healdsburg in Sonoma County to join some friends for a couple of days of wine country fun – which included a gorgeous 30 mile bike ride through the area!
Part of our motivation for choosing this time of year to all get together was to celebrate the birthdays of both Pop’s and one of his great cycling friends Ted.
Any reason to get together with these wonderful friends works for me – and who wouldn’t love a few days spent in the glorious Northern California wine country!
As a necessity on any trip north, through San Francisco, a stop must be made to take in the stunning sights of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.
After we got checked into our hotel, checking out all the lovely amenities of the Best Western Dry Creek Inn (hot tubs, pools, steam room, saunas, jacuzzi tubs, large comfy rooms, etc)…
… we all headed to the town square of Healdsburg for music in the park.
What a lovely night of music, visiting with friends and perfect wine country weather!
The next day, it was time to head out on the ride! I was a bit nervous as I hadn’t ridden in weeks and weeks due to being under the weather, but I couldn’t have chosen a better group to be with to welcome me back to my love of cycling.
The sites along the ride were just incredible.
I loved this little pit stop at the Jimtown Store!
What a PERFECT day for riding!!
While we were out cycling around, Linda was kind enough to find a special, surprise dinner spot for us!
Catelli’s in Geyserville!
We were able to sit out on the back porch and enjoy the lovely evening and delicious food…
And what trip to wine country would be complete without enjoying fabulous wine!
Dinner was fabulous – we all had worked up an appetite on the ride – as Pop’s always says “Appetite is the Best Sauce!”
After dinner, we headed back to downtown Healdsburg for a little dessert action!
The Healdsburg General Store had great flavors of sorbet to offer us!
Great trip, great town!! Thanks Healdsburg for being so welcoming and such fun for our little group!
P.S. We’ve been staying in a lot of Best Western’s this summer, here in the US and Canada and are finding that we really, really like them!! Bonus – a lot of them are pet friendly and they have a great rewards program too – AND they seem to be everywhere we want to go!!
